Exploring Allergic Contact Dermatitis Prevalence through Patch Testing in Atopic Dermatitis Patients Using U.S. Claims Data

Atopic dermatitis (AD) and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) can appear similar but have distinct underlying mechanisms and management approaches. ACD is a delayed hypersensitivity reaction to an allergen, and patch testing is the preferred diagnostic method. The relationship between AD and the risk of developing ACD, as well as the specific allergens involved, remains unclear. To address this, a study utilized claims data to investigate the frequency and culprit allergens of ACD in patients with and without AD.
