Kathryn Schwarzenberger, MD, FAAD, spoke with Craig Burkhart, MD, MPH, MSBS, FAAD, about issues relating to his article titled, “Structural racism and its influence on the severity of atopic dermatitis (AD) in African American children.” While his study did not set out to look for racism, the data found proved to be convincing of an association between structural racism and AD severity, which led to the theme of the paper.
